Job Description
As an audit staff you will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the audit process and different businesses by working on various stages of the audit, which may include fieldwork in the areas of compliance testing, cash, accounts receivable, inventories, fixed assets, accounts payable and accruals. Typical responsibilities may include:
- Assisting in performing audits and review engagements
- Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and applying areas of GAAP
- Providing input and suggestions to management to improve client internal controls and accounting procedures
- Maintaining relationships with and speaking to key client personnel to obtain an understanding of business operations, processes and functions
- Communicating with the clients’ customers, creditors, banks and related parties concerning audit issues
- Documenting work completed by preparing workpapers
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- One to three years audit experience a plus; public accounting experience preferred
- Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles; knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) a plus
- Proficiency in the use of computers and computer accounting software programs

Job Description
The audit internship is an opportunity that allows students to assist with and perform the responsibilities of Audit Staff, such as work paper preparation and drafting audit documents. The Audit Intern will work closely with Audit Staff to gain an understanding of the preparation needed for planning and performing audits.
Duties may include:
- Auditing select areas of a financial statements and note disclosures
- Work with clients’ documents; communicate with the clients
- Work business and accounting software
- Apply FASB and GASB accounting and reporting standards and the AICPA and GAO auditing standards
- Participation in fieldwork
