Qualifications

About The Role
Pivot CPAs is seeking a Tax Associate with 1–3 years of public accounting experience to join our growing Tax Department. This role is designed for someone who has a solid foundation in tax preparation and is ready to take on increased responsibility while continuing to develop technically under the guidance of Tax Seniors, Managers, and Partners.
This position sits below Tax Senior and focuses on return preparation, workpaper quality, efficiency, and continued professional growth—without client ownership or leadership expectations at this stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns with increasing independence
- Prepare extensions, projections, and supporting tax workpapers
- Review and organize client-provided data for accuracy and completeness
- Apply federal and state tax concepts in accordance with firm standards
- Identify issues or discrepancies and escalate appropriately to senior team members
- Collaborate with Tax Seniors and Managers to meet deadlines and workload demands
- Participate in technical training, feedback, and ongoing professional development
- Support busy-season execution and assigned tax workflow tasks
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 1–3 years of public accounting tax experience required
- CPA candidate or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred

About the Role
Pivot CPAs is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our accounting team in delivering high-quality client service. This role is ideal for someone early in their public accounting career who is eager to build a strong technical foundation, learn from experienced professionals, and grow within a collaborative firm environment.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing accounting records, assisting with tax and financial reporting engagements, and supporting senior team members across multiple client engagements. Accuracy, organization, and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and supporting schedules
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support the preparation of financial statements and workpapers
- Organize and maintain client documentation within firm systems
- Respond to internal requests from tax, audit, and client accounting teams
- Identify discrepancies and escalate issues to senior accountants or managers
- Assist with client onboarding, data gathering, and workflow tracking
- Participate in training and professional development activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 2+ years of experience in public accounting or a professional accounting environment
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with QuickBooks, CCH Axcess, or similar accounting software is a plus
