Tax Staff Accountant

Job Description

Located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Pivot CPAs is seeking to hire an entry level tax staff accountant to join our team. Staff accountants play a key role during client engagements. Our firm provides an opportunity to work on a wide array of projects in various industries. In this role, you will establish a more personal and direct working relationships with management while developing knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review client documents and apply applicable tax laws

  • Prepare appropriate tax returns

  • Analyze client-prepared financial statements

  • Prepare tax basis financial statements

  • Research tax issues

  • Interact with all levels of staff and management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting

  • On path to sit for CPA exam if not already certified

  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment and multi-task

  • Strong desire to learn

Audit Senior

Job Description

As an Audit Senior, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with supervision and review of audit staff for commercial audit and assurance engagements, while reporting to Manager and above.

  • Actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients.

  • Develop and deepen an understanding of more complex auditing and accounting concepts and apply that knowledge to our client base.

  • Actively engage with key client management to collect information, resolve audit-related problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements. 

  • Assist with financial statement preparation and/or review.

  • Perform general audit procedures and substantive work over more complex areas.

  • Establish and grow relationships within the business community.

  • Coach, train, and develop audit staff.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of public accounting experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Masters preferred.

  • Currently hold a valid CPA license or working towards obtaining a CPA license

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge and exposure to the common business and accounting issues facing companies today. Technical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States (U.S. GAAP).

Technical Capabilities:

  • Staying current and applying applicable technical accounting and financial reporting standards, supporting resolution of technical issues through effective analysis of accounting standards/issues;

  • Understanding and applying effectively auditing standards, firm audit methodology and guidance in work, proactively seeking to apply new guidance and tools in performing audit work;

  • Setting leading examples with professional skepticism, independence, and objectivity, e.g. considering where client incentives or pressures exist and supporting the team in navigating auditor judgments;

  • Identifying and elevating issues early, proposing solutions and communicating them effectively to team members and the client; and,

  • Enhancing the quality of work by actively supervising and coaching others taking responsibility for the quality of work and performing a critical self-review, seeking proactively the advice of supervisors, and responding to feedback in a timely manner.
